"Insects - eeeh, horrid" !
That's how most people react to these animals, thanks to handed-down prejudice and ignorance.
And yet this most successful of all groups of animals is most unfairly assessed and judged according to the few "harmful" members.
Their amazing lifestyles and frequently beautiful colours urgently deserve more benevolent attention.
Do you know what a mosquito looks like?
Every child knows what a lion or crocodile looks like. Almost every natural science museum will show exhibits of these animals in one form or another.
But who knows exactly what a common house fly or mosquito looks like?
And yet these are the little creatures that surround us in everyday life.
Insect models as the centre of attraction
Insects are naturally very small, and therefore difficult to behold as originals, alive or dried and held on a stick.
I have made it my task to reproduce these fascinating animals in a greatly enlarged and scientifically correct form, so that even the hairs and bristles are true to the original.
The museum visitor should be given the opportunity for example to take a look at a very hairy mosquito on all sides. |
